A long-standing tradition of quality
care and preschool education.

About Sun Valley Preschool

Founded in 1975 by a dedicated group of local parents, Sun Valley Preschool was established with the  vision of providing a high-quality early learning environment for the community. Over the years, Sun Valley has grown deeply connected to the West Pennant Hills area, with many families contributing to its ongoing development and success.

Originally located on Oratava Avenue, the preschool relocated to its current home in the heart of the leafy, natural beauty of West Pennant Hills, adjacent to the tranquil George Thornton Reserve. Here, we are privileged to operate on Darug land, an area rich in cultural significance, and we honour and respect the traditional custodians of the land, both past and present.

As a community-based, not-for-profit preschool with a capacity of 27 children aged 3 to 5 years, Sun Valley is committed to nurturing strong connections between children, their families, and the surrounding environment. We believe that these connections play a vital role in supporting the growth and development of each child.

Sun Valley’s commitment extends beyond just the children enrolled in our care; we proudly work closely with the local community, families, and educators to ensure the continued provision of quality education and care for children during their formative years, prior to their transition to formal schooling. This collaboration between families, educators, and the community strengthens the foundation upon which our preschool stands, ensuring that every child’s early learning experience is rich, meaningful, and beneficial to their development.

Our educators, in partnership with a dedicated parent management committee, strive to maintain Sun Valley’s tradition of excellence in early education and care. The preschool embraces the local landscape, incorporating nature-based learning experiences where children develop a profound connection to the natural world. Through play and exploration, children gain a deeper understanding of the environment, respect for nature, and the interconnectedness of all living things.

We strive to create a warm, inclusive environment that celebrates diversity, where each child is encouraged to learn at their own pace. Our flexible, anti-bias curriculum is designed to reflect the interests of the children, the values of their families, and the expertise of our educators. We focus on nurturing the children’s curiosity, encouraging them to explore, play, and discover both the natural world around them and their unique individual identities.

At Sun Valley Preschool, we are deeply committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of every child in our care. We prioritise creating a child-safe environment by fully implementing the Child Safe Standards, fostering a culture where children are respected, protected, and their voices are heard. Our practices and policies are designed to safeguard children from harm, ensuring they can learn and grow in a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment.
